Joao Manuel Tavares, 75, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at home in Fall River. He was the husband of Rose B. Tavares. Joao was born in Relva, St. Michael and was the son of the late Manuel Carreiro and  the late Connie (Botelho) Carreiro. In addition to his wife of fifty-two years, he is survived by: his children Rosemary Tavares (fiancé-David Ricardo), Susan Garrity (husband-Michael), Laurieann Tavares (fiancé-Michael Dolan) and Scott Tavares (fiancé-Erin Banville) all of Fall River; 6 grandchildren,Michaela, Ryan, Lucas, Evan, Hailee, & Kaylee; He was the brother of Joe Carreiro, Connie Miranda and Lucy Cuetano all of Fall River and  the uncle  of several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Antere Carreiro. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, November 21st, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
