Joaquim Domingues, 97, of Fall River, husband of the late Maria E. (Cabral) Domingues, passed away peacefully at Rockdale Care and Rehabilitation on Thursday, January 11, 2018 after a long illness. Born in Pombal, Portugal, he was a son of the late Manuel Jose and Joaquina (Domingues) Domingues. An avid Benfica fan, he also enjoyed gardening, making his own wine, and traveling to his homeland in Portugal. What made him most happy was spending time with his family. He leaves: his children, Manuel Domingues and his wife Maria, Susan Moniz and her husband Jason, of Westport, Don Domingues and his wife Alda, and Rosa Resendes (late husband Artur) of Fall River; eight grandchildren, Lisa, Cindy, Melinda, Brian, Christopher, Stacy, Rachael, and Eric; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah, Evan, Sabrina, Ryan, and Bradyn; a brother, Francisco Domingues of Portugal; and many nieces and nephews, including his niece Elvira Sardinha who was very special to him. He was also the brother of the late Jose Domingues, Maria Domingues, and Joaquina Domingues. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, January 16th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his commital at Notre Dame Cemetery.
