John Rego Alves, 92, formerly of Morris St., passed away Tuesday after a short illness. Husband of the late Eva (Felix) Alves. Born in Fall River, son of the late Joseph and Mary Rego Alves. He attended B.M.C. Durfee High School. A WWII veteran, John served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre. After a brief stint in the local textile industry, he went on to work for the Fall River Housing Authority for many years. An animal lover and local sports enthusiast, in his youth he played soccer for local club teams. Beloved brother of Agnes Beaupre (husband – Jean Louis), Linda Lizotte and the late Edward "Winkles" Rego Alves; devoted uncle of Stephen (wife – Linda), Darren (companion – Shelley Arruda), Jonathan, Joshua, Liam and Myles Beaupre. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 10, in Holy Name Church followed by his committal with military honors at St. Patrick Cemetery.
