FALL RIVER
John Azevedo, 90, husband of the late Doris (Robidoux) Azevedo, passed away peacefully on Thursday after a short period of declining health. Born in Fall River, son to the late Manuel G. and Isabel (Decorte) Azevedo. A graduate of Durfee High School where he played baseball, he was a Fall River Police Officer for 31 years in the south end of the city. He also worked as a metal spinner at Sarama Lighting for 40 years. He enjoyed woodworking and wintering in St. Petersburg, Florida where he was president of the Bicycle Club of his retirement community. He was the beloved father of John Azevedo II and his wife Cindy (Janusz) of Westport and Thomas Azevedo and his wife Karen (Bolger) of Fall River; his daughter Stephanie Azevedo of Fall River; loving grandfather of Jennifer Azevedo-Andre, Jonathan and Lillian Azevedo and great-grampy "Snoopy" of Tristan, Amelia and Luna; his sister Alice Cieto of Swansea; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Walter, Albert and Virginia Silva, Isabel Duarte, and Elizabeth Tripp. A special thank you to the staff at Country Gardens Nursing Center for their support and loving care of John in his last few days. His visitation will be held on Tuesday evening in the Silva-Faria Funeral Home Chapel from 4-6PM with a prayer service at 5:45PM.
