John "Mersh" Borges, 89, of Fall River, husband of Agnes (Farias), passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018. John was born in Fall River and was a son of the late Rosella O'Brien. Mersh was an avid cook and talented tailor who kept his sons and grandchildren well fed and well dressed. He was a long time treasurer of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union and original member and Treasurer of the Espirito Santo Credit Union. In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by: his four sons Christopher Borges of Dartmouth, Timothy Borges and his wife Deborah (Martel) of Somerset, Gregory Borges and his wife Mary (Azar) of Swansea and Jeffrey Borges of Fall River and six grandchildren, Aaron, Ryan, Matthew, Katie, Mark and Emily. He is predeceased by his siblings. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, August 8th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
