John M. Cabral, Jr., 79, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday. He was the husband of Lucille (Carreiro) Cabral, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Fall River, son of the late John M. and Anna (Faria) Cabral. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was the recipient of the United Nations, National Defense and Korean Service Medals with 2 Bronze Service Stars. He worked for the former Awkright Finishing, retiring in 1991 and was a volunteer at the Holy Trinity Soup Kitchen. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and making people laugh. Besides his wife, John is survived by daughters, Brenda A. Pavao of Fall River and Francine Roy (husband – Matthew) of Portsmouth, RI; a sister, Angelina Goyette of Fall River; grandchildren, Jill Rivers, Allison Berube, Derek Cabral, Ryan Cabral, Corey Cabral, Kiara Cabral, Ben Roy and Simon Roy; great grandchildren, Olivia and Samuel and several nieces and nephews. He was also father of the late Jeffrey J. Cabral and brother of the late Manuel and Adelino Cabral, Mary "Connie" Alix, Clothilde "Tillie" Oliveira and Jenny Goyette. Friends and family gathered at the funeral home on Monday before departing to a funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Parish Church. After the Mass, pallbearers Matthew Roy, Ryan Cabral, Corey Cabral, Mark Mendonca, Derek Carbral, and Cameron Acker brought John to his final resting place in Notre Dame Cemetery.
