Obituary

John C. Costa, 83, of Fall River, husband of Urbana (Cardoso) Costa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Born in Sao Roque, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Carlos Costa and the late Evelina (Moniz) Costa. He then moved to Fontinhas, Terceira, Azores at a young age with his family and is where he met and married his loving wife before moving to the United States in 1969.

Prior to his retirement he was a talented finish carpenter in the local construction industry for many years. He loved woodworking, fishing, playing cards and dominos, going on cruises, traveling, and his scratch tickets. He was also a long-time member of the Ateneu Luso Americano Club where he would meet up with many of his friends. Most important to John was spending quality time with his family.

Besides his devoted wife of fifty-five years, he leaves his loving daughter, Lauriann (Costa) Ferreira and her husband, Cesar, of Fall River; his two brothers, Liberal Costa and his wife, Sylvia, and Valdemar Da Costa and his wife, Rosa; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Danny Costa and brother of the late Luis Da Costa.

Following a private cremation, His Memorial Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, November 23rd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church.
