John M. Espinola, 67, New Bedford, husband of Lina (Arruda) Espinola, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Manuel Medeiros Espinola and the late Alice (Tavares) Espinola, he emigrated to Fall River in 1968 where he resided most of his life – having only recently moved to New Bedford in the last year.
He was employed at Belcher Foundry of Easton for many years, then at Quads Printing Co. for several years – retiring in 2018. An active member of the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church, he served as deacon and was a member of the choir. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending every free moment with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, of 47 years, he is survived by: two daughters, Jennifer Espinola and Carrie Moniz both of Fall River; two sisters, Malvina DaSilva of Fall River and Belmira Borges of Westport; six grandchildren, Matthew, Brittany, Kayla, Andrew, Emily, and Abigail; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mario J. Espinola.
Following a private cremation, a Celebration of John's Life was held on Thursday, January 14th, at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Fall River.
