John L. Gibb II, 76, of New Bedford, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital after a sudden illness. Born in Attleboro, a son of the late George S. Gibb and the late Ruth (Ballou) Gibb, he resided in Mattapoisett most of his life.

John spent as much time as possible outdoors, going to the beach, being on the water, and he especially loved fishing. He was a gifted artist – specializing in woodcarving, but he also painted and enjoyed photography.  He was employed as an electrician for many years, he worked on historic homes all over the cape.

He is survived by: five children, Susan Gibb-Beloin (husband Franck) of Encinitas, CA, John L. Gibb III of Sagamore, MA, Bradford Gibb of Warner Springs, CA, Jessica S. Gibb-Perry (husband Jacob) of So. Dartmouth, and Julia Gibb of New Bedford; two siblings, Peter Gibb of Amesbury, MA, and Elizabeth Gibb-Fuller of Falmouth; eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His sister, Sarah Gibb-Latawick, preceded him in death.

His funeral arrangements were private.
