John Lawrence Greeley, 84, of South Boston, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023, at his niece's home under hospice care.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Henry W. Greeley of Amesbury, MA, and the late Anna M. O'Mahony of Ireland.

John served in the US Army and then worked for the City of Boston as a boiler worker. He dedicated his life to Ireland, the Irish language, and Irish culture. He was a fan of all Boston sports with his favorites being the Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox. His hobbies included softball, dancing, and leading a healthy lifestyle. He will be missed by many.

John is survived by his loving niece and caregiver, Marlene Martin McCarty and her better half, Chris Martin, of Fall River, MA.  He also leaves his two grand-nieces, Kelli and Kerri McCarty, both of Fall River. He was also the younger brother of the late Marion Greeley and the late Helena Greeley Martin.

Funeral services will be held privately by the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St., Fall River. He will be buried at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Boston, MA with his siblings and his father.
