John Cordeiro Oliveira, 72, of Fall River and husband of the late Victoria (Medeiros) Oliveira, passed away peacefully surrounded by his three beloved step-daughters on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at home following a long illness. Born in Remedios da Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Joao de Oliveira and the late Maria (Cordeiro) Oliveira.
A United States Navy Veteran, he proudly and bravely served his country during Vietnam. He was Head of Design at a local garment company for many years. An avid New England Patriots fan, he also loved his trips to the casino. He was affectionately known as "Vovo Cupcakes" by his grandchildren with whom he enjoyed much quality time.
He leaves: his daughters, Stephanie Pacheco and her companion, Paul Levesque, Christine Arroja and her husband, Kevin, both of Dartmouth, and Diane Bernardo and her husband, Peter, of Westport; his five grandchildren, Alexis Pacheco, Nicholas Arroja, Victoria Arroja, Sylas Bernardo, and Dawson Bernardo; two sisters, Mariana Rebello (late husband, David) and Alda Gaudencio and her husband, Vasco; one brother, Fernando Oliveira and his wife, Beatrice; a brother-in-law, Messias de Arruda; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Maria H. de Arruda.
Following a private cremation, John's Memorial Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, October 1st, in Espirito Santo Church. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in John's memory to: Relay for Life, American Cancer Society, Centralized Memorial processing Center, P.O. Box 1120, Framingham, MA 01701.
