John S. Pereira, 81, of Fall River, passed away on Wednesday. He was husband of Laura (Machado) Pereira, he was born in Fall River, son of the late Manuel "Jessie" and Adeline (Bastos Silvia) Pereira. John was carpenter by trade and he had worked the Fall River Public Works Department for many years. A member of the Don Carlos and St. Anthony Band Clubs, John enjoyed camping and was very active in city political campaigns, having worked the polls for many elections. Beloved father of John Pereira, Jr. (wife-Pamela, Patricia Wisniewski (husband-Paul), Paula Bouchard (husband-Bruce) and Pamela Piela (husband-David): brother of Alfred Pereira (wife-Ann) and the late Dolores Cabral; grandfather of Lisa Wisniewski, Bruce Bouchard, Courtney, Nicole and Kyle Pereira; great grandfather of Jonathan and Kayleigh Gruber, Collin Pereira, Bienne and Caramia Bouchard. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, August 15th, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
