John "Captain" Roies, 85, of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday. He was the husband of Edwina (Moniz) Roies, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Tiverton, RI, son of the late John and Theresa (Souza) Roies. A passionate workaholic, he owned and operated Reliable Sanitation. He loved going to Newport Grand Jai Alai and meeting with his friends at the coffee shop. He was the father of John J. Roies, III of Providence, RI, Catherine Roies-Medeiros (husband – Daniel) of Berkley, Lori Ann Desmarais of Fall River and Tracy Ann Roies of Westport; brother of Antone Roies of Tiverton, RI, Mary Medeiros of Fall River, Joanne Oliveira of Rehoboth, Laura Levesques and Barbara Medeiros, both of Tiverton, the late Dennis Roies, Alice Felix and Beatrice Souza; grandfather of Ashley Pilotte, Jazmin & Jade St. Pierre and Michaela Desmarais. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends gathered at the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, on Saturday March 9, 2013 for a Prayer Service. His private cremation followed.
