John R Sousa, 61, of Los Angeles California, loving partner of Patricia Shaver, passed away on Monday May 8, 2023 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Born in Fall River, he was a son of John B. Sousa and Alicia M (Rogers) Sanford (husband, David).

Prior to his passing, he was Senior Traffic Coordinator for Playboy International for over twenty-five years. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School and Berklee College of Music in Boston. He enjoyed snowboarding, skiing, hiking and watching baseball with his Pepe. John loved creating music and jamming with his Dad whenever he could. He loved playing in the band with his friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his family when he would visit from LA every year.

Besides his parents and partner of eighteen years, he leaves his three sisters, Cheryl Dillon of West Kingston, RI; Michelle Tanner and her companion, Johnny, of North Carolina; and Amy Abate and her husband, Eric, of Westport, MA; his two brothers, Truman Turner and his wife, Holly, of Mattapoisett, MA and Keith Turner of Kentucky; and his five nieces, Ashley Turner, Amber Abate, Erica Abate, Holyn Turner and Angelina Dillon.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, May 22nd, at St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery both in Fall River.

John was a true believer in giving back to the community, and was a continuous donor to the Berklee School of Music Scholarship Fund. He never forgot where he came from and wanted to provide under-privileged students like himself the same opportunity he was given. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting to honor him with donations made to the Berklee School of Music Scholarship Fund.
