Obituary

John Souza, 74, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, former husband of Janet (Campion) Souza, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Jose Souza and the late Elsie (Lopes) Souza.

Prior to his retirement he was an owner and manager of various local businesses for many years. He loved playing the guitar and possessed a strong passion for music, a gift that he has passed onto his three children. He also enjoyed gardening and was a big animal lover, owning many German Shepherds in his lifetime. Most notably, John was a highly intelligent man and was known for his unconventional ways which people loved about him.

Besides his former wife, he leaves his loving children, Keith Elton Souza and his wife, Catherine, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Matthew Jamison Souza of Tiverton, and Kimberly Ann Marie Souza and her partner, Meghan Lewis, of Westport; his brother, Jose Souza, Jr. and his wife, Beverly, of Tiverton; and one nephew, Joey Souza.

Following a private cremation, His Memorial Gathering was held on Saturday, February 3rd, in our Fall River Chapel. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in John's memory to: ASPCA (American Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), P.O. Box 96929, Washington, D.C. 20090-6929.
