John "Pappy" Tacovelli, 77, of Fall River, longtime companion of Janet Sullivan, passed away peacefully on Monday at home. Born in Fall River, son of the late John and Carmela (Alfonso) Tacovelli. A Marine Veteran, he worked for NE Power Plant for 29 years. An avid sportsfan, he enjoyed watching the Patriots, the Redsox, and the Celtics. He was a member of CYO Basketball, Scholarship City Softball League, Over the Hill Gang, and Hall of Fame for softball. John was also a member of the first little league team in Fall River and founder of Little Italy Softball team. He also loved traveling, camping, going out for breakfast, and his home in Florida, where he and Janet spent twelve wonderful years. Besides his companion, he leaves his daughters, Jodi Dupras of Somerset and Lori Botelho of Fall River; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister Judith Emond (late-husband-Richard)of Assonet; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours were held on Thursday, May 18th, in our Fall River Chapel. His funeral was private.
