John Peter Tavares, Jr., 68, of Fall River, passed away Tuesday. Born in Fall River and a lifelong resident, son of the late John Peter and Irene Tavares. A skilled plumber and carpenter, he passed his talents on to many of his children and grandchildren. John was the beloved father of Carmen Rose Duarte, Sandra Diane Ciccone, John Peter Tavares, III, Jesse John Tavares, Heidi Louann Teves and Tammy Lou Dias; grandfather of Tiffaney Lynn Tavares, Keith Patrick Michael, Jesse John Tavares, Jr., John Coty Tavares, Alexander Peter Dias, Tasha Loretta Emma Ciccone and Dylan Tavares; great grandfather of Elijah Keith Michael and Jasiah Michael; brother of Ronnie Tavares, Richard Correia, Robert Correia, Carol Lowney and the late James Correia. He also leaves his ex-wife, Carmen (Gagne) Tavares, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service took place on Friday, July 30, at our Fall River Chapel.
