John M. Torres, 69, husband of Lucy (Pereira) Torres, passed away on August 13 ^th after a lengthy illness. Born in São Viçente, São Miguel, Açores, John was the son of the late Manuel & Conceição (Viveiros) Torres. Besides his wife of 47 years, he also leaves a daughter, Cynthia Berube (husband Paul) of Fall River; a son, John M. Torres Jr. (wife Celeste) of Westport; 5 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Berube, Brendan Berube, Kara Berube, Celina Torres & Johnny Torres; 6 siblings, Mary Torres (late husband Lionel), David Torres (wife Stephanie), Joseph Torres, & Louis Torres (wife Maria) all of Fall River, Esmeralda Torres (partner Fernando Machado) of Rehoboth, and Rose Ferreira of Florida; and several nieces & nephews. John was also the brother of the late Gilda Torres.

John was a retired member of Local 610, after working many years in the construction industry, most recently at Brayton Point Power Plant, Somerset, MA. John was also a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church for most of his life. He was an active member of the Don Carlos Social Club where he socialized with friends.

John generously donated to many charitable organizations such as, We Love Children, the American Cancer Society's Greater Fall River Relay For Life, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

John was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards, and watching classic western movies. Above all else, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, August 19th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
