John W. "Jack" Toulan, 72, of Somerset, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday April 22, 2020. Born in Fall River, a son of Mildred R. (Benevides) Toulan and the late Edward B. Toulan, he was a lifelong resident of Somerset and a graduate of Somerset High School, Class of 1966.

A field engineer surveyor, he was employed with General Dynamics for ten years, retiring as a survey chief, and also worked on the 'Big Dig' project in Boston. He had also proudly served in the National Guard.

An avid reader and sports fan, his favorite teams were the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders & the Los Angeles Lakers. John also enjoyed serving the Town of Somerset as a member of its Planning Board for 10 years.

Besides his mother, of Somerset, he is survived by: children, Nikki Nunes of Fall River, Allison Bouchard of Warren RI, Jenna Toulan of Somerset, Peter Toulan of Somerset, and Lisa Esten of Dartmouth; siblings, Edward B. Toulan, Jr. of Rehoboth, Colleen R. LeComte of Tiverton RI, and Erin M. Price of Mansfield; grandchildren, Rachel, Anthony, Michael, Aidan, and Kiley; nieces & nephews.

Due to the COVID pandemic, a private funeral service was held on Sunday, April 26th, in our Somerset Chapel.

When the current crisis has abated enough for large gatherings to again take place, Jack's family is planning to arrange for the offering of a Memorial Funeral Mass at St. Thomas More Church, Somerset, to which extended family, friends and the public will be invited – and details will be announced here.

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. But, because of this pandemic, all are urged to express sympathy online or by mail.
