John R. Vincent (89) of Tiverton, R.I., peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on December 20, 2024. He was married to the late Barbara (Sousa) for 62 years until her passing in 2020.
Born in Fall River, John was the son of the late John C. Vincent and the late Sophia (Brooder). As a young adult John served in the Naval Reserves and worked as a lineman. In 1956 he went to work for Colonial Wholesale Beverage, the family business established by his father-in-law in 1938. He spent the next 69 years at Colonial, retiring as the Chief Executive Officer this December.
John resided in Fall River for most of his life, eventually moving to Tiverton in the mid-1990s. He is a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua in Fall River. In addition to dedicating his life to his family and his work at Colonial, John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his two daughters, Joanne Vincent Isabel and her husband, Bruce, and Jana McHenry (late husband, Michael); two granddaughters, Jillian Howarth and her husband, Christopher, and Caitlin McHenry; a sister-in-law, Helene Sousa; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews as well as a great-grandnephew. John was also the brother of the late Mildred Violette and the late Edna Lacob.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, December 24th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by a private committal.
