Jose Pereira Alpoim, age 76, passed away in Fall River on April 29, 2012, following an illness. He was the husband of the late Mary C. (Ventura) Alpoim. Born in Fontaura, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio Alpoim and the late Aurora (Pereira) Alpoim. A resident of Fall River, he was employed in the textile trade of this city as a weaver for many years at the former Quaker Fabrics. Jose's late wife Mary was also employed as a seamstress in the garment industry, and together they operated a small business manufacturing curtains. He was a communicant of Espirito Santo Church in Fall River. Surviving family members include six sisters; Maria Julia Correia, Theresa Fereira and Maria Morais, all of Fall River, and Aurora Alpoim, Tina Silva and Rosa Alpoim, all of Portugal, and three brothers, Manuel Alpoim, Joaquin Alpoim and Antonio Alpoim, all of Portugal. Although Jose was not blessed with his own children he leaves many nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 5, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery, located on Stafford Road in Fall River.
