Jose Antonio, Jr., 85, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Friday, surrounded by his family at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center. He was the beloved husband of Irene (Marques) Antonio, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Born in Fall River, son of the late Jose and Mariana (Faria) Antonio. With a long career in construction, Jose was the Foreman with Callan Construction in Somerset and Lisbon Construction in Fall River. An avid fisherman, hunter and gardner, he loved playing cards and was known to be a " card shark". He was a past president of the St. John's Athletic Club and member of the Laborer's Union Local #610. Besides his wife, Jose is survived by his children, Michael J. Antonio and his wife Mariana of Jackson, NJ, Rosemary Poisson and her husband Guy of Somerset and Mariana Peterson and her husband Kenneth of North Kingston, RI; brothers, Joaquim Antonio and Henry Antonio, both of Long Island, NY; sisters, Adelaide Borges of Fall River, Theresa Matos of Long Island and Maria Fatima Matos of Swansea; grandchildren, Danielle, Heather, Dustin, Jennifer, Frank and Michael; great grandchildren, Isabella, Delilah, Nora, Gavin, Annabelle, Lily and Alexander; and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, March 15th, in St. John of God Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
