Jose Antunes, 94, of Fall River, husband of the late Armanda Inacio Antunes, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 in St. Anne's Hospital.

Born in Lousã, Portugal, he was a son of the late Joaquim and Rosa Antunes.

Jose lived and worked in Mozambique, Africa where he owned a carpentry business. In 1977 he immigrated to America, settling in Fall River. Prior to his retirement he had been employed by Lisbon Construction and FC construction. He was a member of Union Laborer Local 385, Fairhaven and he was also a parishioner of Santo Christo Church for many years.

He is survived by: his two children, Joaquim Antunes and Amelia Valente; two grandchildren, Wilson Valente and his wife, Kori, of Swansea and Peter Valente and his companion, Maria Nahme, of Fall River; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Dakota, and Maxen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother of the late Maria Mendes, Carmina Antunes, Conceicao Correia, Antonio Antunes, and Rosalina Fernandes.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 6th, in Santo Christo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
