Jose M. Arruda, 78, of Fall River, husband of Zelia M. (Cabral) Arruda, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Manuel Ferreira Arruda and the late Clotilde (dos Santos) Arruda, he emigrated to Fall River in 1977. He worked as a union laborer in the local construction industry for many years, retiring in 2008, and enjoyed fishing.

Besides his wife, of 55 years, he is survived by: three children, Fernando Arruda of Taunton, Paul Arruda (wife Kathy) of Fall River, and Lucia F. Souza (fiancé David Faria) of Fall River; six siblings, Joao Arruda of Fall River, Mario Arruda of Milton, MA, and Conceicao, Teresinha, Clotilde, and Fernanda Arruda all of St. Michael, Azores; seven grandchildren, Christopher Arruda, Stephanie Arruda, Amelio Arruda, Jeffrey Souza, Jordan Souza, Megan Arruda, and Ashley Arruda; ten great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Antonio Arruda.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, October 5th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
