Jose Capeto Carreiro, 75, of Fall River, husband of Anita (de Freitas) Carreiro, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at St. Anne's Hospital, after an illness. Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Manuel Carreiro and the late Maria Isabel (Capeto) Carreiro, he emigrated to Fall River in 1971.

Prior to his retirement, Jose was employed for many years in the local construction industry and was a member of the Construction and General Laborers Union Local 610. He also enjoyed membership in the Republican Club. An active Espirito Santo Church parishioner, Jose often volunteered to help with feast celebrations and processions. He was especially talented in model boat building with matchsticks.

Besides his wife, of 51 years, he is survived by: four children, Lazaro C. Carreiro of Fall River, Jose C. Carreiro, Jr. (wife Christine) of Dartmouth, Solomon C. Carreiro (wife Amanda) of Burbank, CA, and Veronica Marie C. Carreiro of Fall River; two siblings, Abel Carreiro of St. Michael, Azores, and Gilberta Rodrigues of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; three grandchildren, Christopher, Ava, and Owen; and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Manuel Carreiro and Januario Carreiro.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 8th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
