Jose Correia, 94, of Somerset, husband of Maria daLuz (Resendes) Correia, passed away at home Friday, December 27, 2019 after a short illness. Born in Feteiras do Sul, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Manuel Correia Filote and the late Belmira (Camara) Correia, he emigrated to Fall River in 1967 and resided in Somerset for the past 40 years.

He was employed as a forklift operator at Silver City Aluminum of Taunton for 20 years, retiring in 1987. Jose loved to work outdoors, taking care of his yard and gardening. He also enjoyed making wine.

Besides his wife, with whom he just celebrated their 70 wedding anniversary, he is survived by: 4 daughters, Maria Margarida Raposo (husband Eduardo), Genoveve DeSousa (husband Guilherme), Albertina Benevides (husband Manny) & Zelia Raposo (husband Michael) all of Somerset; 8 grandchildren, Debra Charest, Donna Estrela, Billy DeSousa, Diane Ahearn, Melinda Martinez, Matthew Benevides, Michael Raposo, and Andrew Raposo; 12 great grandchildren, Isabel, Olivia, Ryan, Sophia, Grace, Jaxson, Avery, Izaiah, Emmy, Olivia, Elise, and Cameron; and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by all of his siblings, Belmira Cordeiro, Carmen Soares, Maria dos Anjos Raposa, Manuel & Joao Correia.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, December 31st, in St. John of God Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset.
