Obituary

Jose L. Da Silva, 90, of Fall River, husband of Isaura (Carreiro) Da Silva, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023 in the comforts of his home surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness.  Born in Sao Roque, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Joao Da Silva and the late Maria da Gloria (Tavares) Da Silva.

Prior to his retirement, he was owner and manager of Jose L. Da Silva General Contractors for twenty-four years. An avid Porto fan, he also loved working hard, entertaining, and, in his younger days, playing soccer and playing in the local band in Sao Roque.  Most important to Jose was spending quality time with all of his family. While working as a lineman for the local electric company in Terceira, he received "The Medal of Courage" for saving the life of a pilot during the Korean War. Jose was a very social, kind, and friendly man and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his loving wife of seventy-one years, he leaves his children, Alda Menezes and her husband, Luis, of Fall River, Joseph Da Silva and his wife, Connie, of Westport, Louis Da Silva and his wife, Grace, of Swansea, and Robert Da Silva of Westport; daughter-in-law, Lisa Da Silva; his fourteen grandchildren, Laurie, Rodney, Christopher, Kimberly, Kelly, Joyce, Jennifer, Jason, Timothy, Kevin, Katelyn, Corey, Kendra, and Nicole; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Alda Casmiro (late husband, Liberal) of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Francisco Da Silva, Joao Da Silva, Elizia Da Silva, and Gloria Morgado.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, January 6th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
