Jose Filipe DeFreitas, 89, of Fall River, passed away Saturday at home. Husband of Herminia (Silveira) DeFreitas. Born in Flores, Azores, son of the late Jose and Helena DeFreitas. He was an avid Sporting soccer fan and flowers, gardening and in his younger days, hunting and fishing in his native isle of Flores. Besides his wife of 69 years, he is survived by his daughter, Maria Tavares; his grandson, Paulo Tavares; a brother, Abilio DeFreitas and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Davido DeFreitas and Maria do Carmo Silveira. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 12, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
