Jose S. Dias, 83, of Fall River, husband of Maria T. (Monte) Dias, died Saturday, June 9, 2018, at home after a long illness. Born in Mosteiros, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Jose Dias and the late Henriqueta (Botelho) Dias, he emigrated to Fall River in 1969, and worked in the local textile industry for many years, retiring (from the former United Merchants, at the time of their closing) in 1996.

Besides his wife, of 58 years, he is survived by: four children, Mario Dias of Dartmouth, Carmelia Ferreira of Fall River, Joe Dias of Fall River and Susan Soares (husband Roger) of Fall River; one sister, Serafina Pereira of Fall River; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. He was also a brother of the late Isabel Cabral and the late Joao Silva.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, June 13th, in Santo Christo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
