Jose M. Ferreira

   Jose M. Ferreira, 70, of Fall River, husband of Maria N. (Cordeiro) Ferreira, passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, September 12, 2026.  Born in Covoada, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Jose Araujo Ferreira and the late Maria do Carmo Alves, he emigrated to Fall River in 1979.

   A maintenance mechanic in the local textile industry, at Duro Industries, for many years until an early retirement due to disability, Jose loved making wine and watching soccer (cheering Benfica). Mostly he enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

   Besides his wife of 47 years, he is survived by: three daughters, Natalie F. Melo (husband Pedro), Tina Ferreira, and Elizabeth Ferreira all of Fall River; a brother, Felisberto Ferreira of Dartmouth; and two grandchildren, Diego and Donovan.  Jose was predeceased by his sister, Maria Solomé Alves.  As he was close with the many members of his extended family, he will be fondly remembered by all of his in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

   Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Calling Hours to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

   His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 9:00 am from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered in Santo Christo Church at 10:00 am. Committal Service and interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
