Jose Furtado Leite, 98, of Fall River, husband of the late Beatrice (Medeiros) Leite, died peacefully with his children at his side Sunday June 28, 2009 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Faial da Terra, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Francisco F. & Maria Isabel (Medeiros) Leite, he emigrated to Fall River in 1951. He worked at tree nurseries in Newport RI, local farms and also at Providence Pile Mfg Co. He enjoyed gardening, reciting Portuguese verse, the Romerios and being with his family and friends. Father of Mary Isabel Leite and Manuel Leite both of Fall River; brother of Mary Medeiros of Taunton and the late Francisco F., Manuel F., John F. & Antone F. Leite. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St Anthony of Padua Church. Committal service was held at St Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. In his memory, donations may be made to St. Anne's Shrine, 818 Middle St, Fall River, MA 02721
