Jose M. Albernaz, 52, of Dartmouth, passed away at home on Wednesday after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Husband of Maria Alice (Ferreira) Albernaz, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Jose and Gilda (Botelho) Albernaz. He was a foreman at Aetna Bridge and belonged to RI Local #271. He was an avid soccer fan and loved to spend time with his beloved granddaughter. Survivors include sons, Jeffrey L. Albernaz (wife – Erica) of Fall River, Danny M. Albernaz and Christopher J. Albernaz, both of Dartmouth; a brother, Paul Albernaz of Fall River; sisters, Grace Novo of Fall River, Angie Sousa of Dartmouth, Connie Pimentel of Halifax, Nellie Albernaz and Alda Albernaz, both of Fall River; granddaughter, Kaylee Albernaz and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Nelson Albernaz. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, February 18, in Sts. Peter and Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
