Jose M. Ferreira, 79, of Fall River, husband of Maria L. (Frias Mota) Ferreira, formerly husband of the late Maria (Medeiros) Ferreira, died on January 18, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in St Michael, Azores, son of Jose C. & Maria (da Costa) Ferreira, he emigrated to Fall River in 1960. After working for 10-15 years in the local construction industry, he worked as a groundskeeper at Brown University for almost 20 years, retiring in 1993. He loved animals and, in his younger days while living in the Azores, worked as an estate farmhand, caring for cows and horses. He was a member of the Don Carlos Club. Besides his wife, he leaves: 2 sons, Jose M. Ferreira Jr. (companion Donna Brito) of North Dartmouth, and Bobby Ferreira of Fall River; a stepson, Nelson Linhares (wife Michelle) of South Dartmouth; a granddaughter, Falon Ferreira; 2 stepgrandchildren, Mia Rose & Jackson Linhares; many nieces and nephews. He also had many siblings and stepsiblings predecease him. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St Anthony of Padua Church. He was laid to rest at St. Patrick Cemetery.
