Jose M. Raposo, age 83, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Maria Da Luz (Torres Medeiros) Raposo. Born on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores, he was a son of the late Denis Melo Raposo and the late Maria Estrela Temelo. After residing in the Azores for fifty years, he immigrated to Fall River in 1983, and was naturalized as a citizen of the United States. Jose was employed as a landscaper for many years with the Phil Mastroianni Tree & Landscape Corp of Waltham, MA, until his retirement in 1998. He was a communicant of Santo Christo Church in Fall River. In addition to Maria, his wife of 55 years, surviving family members include their ten children; Margarida Raposo of Sao Miguel, Azores, Gorette Sousa of Fall River, Estrela Matos of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and Mario J. Raposo, Jose D. Raposo, Mariano Raposo, Peter Raposo, Ilda Neto, Fatima Da Silva, & Joao Raposo, all of Fall River, a brother, Manuel Temelo of Sao Miguel, Azores, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Christina Temelo and grandfather of the late Selena Crespo and Sabrina Crespo. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, October 7th, in Santo Christo Church followed by his committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
