Jose O. Martins, Jr.

   Jose O. Martins, Jr., 80, of Fall River, husband of Maria Dorvalina (Da Silva) Martins, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Feiteras de Sul, Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Jose Oliveira Martins and the late Maria (Elias) Martins, he emigrated to Fall River in 1974.

   A hard-working laborer in the construction industry for many years, Jose enjoyed working with his crew at R. J. Messina Corp. of Brockton. He enjoyed travelling and tending to his garden. More than anything, Jose loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

   Besides his wife of 53 years, he is survived by: two daughters, Paula Soares (husband James Soares) and Stephanie Martins-Borges (husband Cesar Borges) both of Somerset; two grandchildren, Brianna Soares and Caden Borges; and many nieces and nephews. Jose was predeceased by all his siblings, Ramiro Martins, David Martins, Maria Cabral, Daciel Oliveira, Filomena Couto, and Gilberto Martins.

   Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Visitation to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 8:30 am to 10:00 am.

   His Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00 am from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered in St. Anthony of Padua Church at 10:30 am. Cremation will follow, with a private burial of cremains at a later time.
