Jose M. Sousa, 90, of Fall River, husband of Maria de Lourdes (Rodrigues) Sousa, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at Massachusetts General Hospital unexpectedly. Born in Ajuda Bretanha, Sao Michael, Azores, a son of the late Antonio M. Sousa and the late & Helena (Simao) Sousa, he emigrated to Fall River in 1962, and worked for many years in the local textile industry.

Always looking for ways to help others, Jose especially enjoyed volunteering at the Catholic Memorial Home – assisting residents to get around, and serving as acolyte during daily masses offered there.

In addition to his wife, of 63 years, he is survived by: his daughter, Maria Sousa of Fall River; two siblings, Henrique Sousa of Westport and Isabel Fernandes of Toronto Canada; three grandsons, Liam, and twins Keagan & Devin; and many nieces & nephews. He was also a brother of the late Maria Viveiros, Mariana Arruda, Margarida Medeiros, Helena Cabral & Anselmo Sousa. Grandfather of Liam, Keagan & Devin.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, April 23rd, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St Patrick Cemetery.
