Jose F. Mello, 75, of Fall River, husband of Annette M. (Laliberte) Mello, died Thursday 5/20/10 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Edmundo F. & Maria (Bento) Melo, he lived in Fall River most of his life. He was employed in the local textile industry for many years, retiring in 1989. A lifetime member of the East End Sportsman's Club, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. Besides his wife of 54 years, he is survived by: 2 children, Michael D. Mello, Sr, & Diane C. Kelly both of Fall River; a brother, Louis M. Mello of Somerset; 3 grandchildren, Michael D. Jr, Wendy L. & Bryan M. Mello; several nieces and nephews. Following his cremation, a Memorial Mass was celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, May 28, followed by a committal service prior to his cremains being placed in his niche at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
