Jose "Vintao" Pacheco Miranda, 88, of North Dartmouth and formerly of Fall River, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family and went home to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Husband of Maria (Vasconcelos) Miranda. Born in Remedios da Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Manuel P. and Mariana (Oliveira Soares) Miranda, he served in the Portuguese Army for 2 ½ years before immigrating to this city in 1957. He loved to visit his homeland and enjoyed gardening and playing his harmonica around his family. Jose was the father of Silvestre Miranda (wife – Donna), Gilda Miranda LaBerge (husband – Terry), John Luis Miranda (companion – Pat) and Dovalina Rego (husband – Joseph); brother of Antonio Miranda, Gilda Raposa and the late Manuel P., Joao P. and Manuel P. Miranda and Maria Reis. He also leaves 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was offered on Friday (2/6) in Espirito Santo Church. Committal services followed at Evergreen Cemetery in No. Dartmouth. Pallbearers were Robney LaBerge, Scott and Ryan Miranda, Dan Donovan and Joe Rego.
