Jose Papoula, 82, of Grove Street, passed away on March 18, 2009 after a long illness. Husband of Maria R. Papoula for 59 years. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Jose and Maria (Resendes) Papoula. A parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of their Holy Name Society. Loving father of Joe M. Papoula (wife-Irene), Natalia Farias (husband-Adelino), Eulalia Fortuna (husband-Octavio) and Carl Papoula (wife-Mary); loving grandfather of Cyndi Couto, Kevin, Karl and Ashley Papoula, Bill and Kelly Farias, Scott and Derek Fortuna, Chantell and Zacary Borges and the late Kristin Papoula; brother of the late Espirito Santo Raimundo, Rosa and Luciana Papoula, Manuel and Maria Resendes. He also leaves 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Anthony Padua Church. Pallbearers Derek and Scott Fortuna, Kevin and Carl Papoula, Bill Farias and Zack Borges brought Jose to his final resting place at St. Patrick Cemetery.
