Jose F. Pavao, age 64, of Fall River, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, following an illness. He was the husband of Zenaide V. (Pacheco) Pavao. Born in Ponta Delgada, on the island of St. Michael in the Azores, he was a son of the late Humberto Pavao and the late Gilda (da Ponte) Pavao. After residing in the Azores for thirty four years, he moved to Fall River in 1980 and was employed as baker for many years in this city and Warren, RI, at the former Valueland Markets. Mr. Pavao was an Army Veteran of the Portuguese Colonial War in Angola. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fall River and a former member of the Don Carlos Club. In addition to his wife, Zenaide, surviving family members include a son, Joseph Pavao and his wife, Jessica, of Fall River, a daughter, Elizabeth De Pina and her husband, John, of Fall River, two brothers, Humberto Pavao of Fall River, and Carlos Pavao of New Bedford, MA, a granddaughter, Jayden Sineiro, a grandson, Trey De Pina, and several nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late, Vitor Pavao, Luiz Pavao and Olivia Medeiros. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church. He was laid to rest in Notre Dame Cemetery.
