Jose Raposo, 83, of Fall River, husband of Matilde (Oliveira) Raposo, passed away peacefully at home, with his wife of 57 years by his side, on Thursday, July 9, 2020 after a long illness. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Luis Raposo and the late Maria (Estrela) Raposo, he emigrated to Fall River in 1973.

He had worked in the local textile industry for many years, and enjoyed gardening and tending his vineyard. Jose had a strong faith and great love for his family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by: a son, Victor J. Raposo (wife Connie) of Westport; a grandson, Ryan J. Raposo; three siblings, Ilda Carvalho of Fall River, Everest Raposo of Toronto, Canada, and Deolinda Viveiros of Fall River; and many nieces & nephews. He was also the father of the late Jose Manuel Raposo; and brother of the late Maria Ferreira, David Raposo, Adeline Arruda, Margaret Costa, and Manuel Raposo.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, July 13th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by a private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
