Jose Pereira Salvador, 88, of Santa Clara, CA and formerly of Tracy, passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2021.

He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Da Conceição  "Mariazinha" (Lourenço) Salvador, with whom he had shared 67 years of marriage.

Born in Terceira, Açores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Jose Rocha Salvador and Maria Conceicao (Pereira) Salvador. Following his wife, who emigrated to the United States to find work in 1966, Jose and his two children were able to join her in 1969 in Fall River, MA. Finding work at Hewlett Packard in Waltham, MA, they moved to Lowell for several years. With longing for beautiful weather, when HP offered the opportunity to move out west to Silicon Valley in 1977, Jose and Maria jumped at the chance, settling in Santa Clara where they remained until moving to Tracy in 1999. Following Maria's death last year, Joe moved in with his son in Santa Clara.

He was a gentle and loving man who was often soft-spoken except for when he was cheering on Sporting Clube de Portugal, his beloved soccer team, or when he would ceremoniously alert his precious koi fish that it was time to eat. When he did have something to share it was always precise, poignant, and meaningful.

Survivors include his children, Filomena M. Silva (husband-Paul) of Fall River, Francisco J. Salvador (wife-Lucia) of Santa Clara, CA; grandchildren, Amy Rigtrup (husband-Jonathan) of Somerset, Melanie Silva (husband-Alex Correia) of Little Compton, RI and Patricia Robinson (husband-Patrick) of Fall River, Britteny Salvador of San Francisco, CA, Bethany Salvador of Santa Clara, CA, Chelsea Salvador of Seattle, WA, and Cedric Salvador of Boise, ID; great grandchildren, Greyson James Rigtrup, Joseph Jonathan Rigtrup, Cecelia Ana Rae Rigtrup and Aleister Silva Robinson; his siblings, Ana Comtois, who is also a godchild, (husband-Gerry) of Milford, NH; Filomena Peixoto (husband-the late Carlos "Zeca"), Iria Goulart Salvador (husband-the late Gilberto) and Benvinda Pereira dos Santos Salvador (husband-the late Fernando) all of Terceira, Açores, Portugal; Lucio Salvador (spouse-Nair) of Montijo, Portugal; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins.

He was also grandfather of the late Jacinta Salvador and brother of the late Judite Estrela (husband-Manuel of Billerica, MA) and Joao DeBrito Salvador (wife-Lucia of Ontario, Canada).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Rosary and Memorial Mass on Saturday, July 24th at 11:00am in Five Wounds Church, 1375 East Santa Clara Street, San Jose, California. Inurnment to follow in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
