Jose S. Silva, 98, of Assonet, husband of the late Geneveve C. (Vieira) Silva, passed away at home surrounded by family. Born in St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Antonio Soares and the late Espirito Santo Silva, he emigrated to Fall River in 1979.

A custodian for a number of years at an aircraft parts manufacturing company formerly of Foxboro, MA, he loved working outdoors, gardening, growing grapes and making wine. He also enjoyed woodcarving, basket weaving, and quality time with family.

He is survived by: Oliveria Leite of Assonet, Ines Pacheco of Edmonton, Alberta Canada, Conceicao Moniz of Assonet, Lourdes Camara of Fall River, Gloria Araujo of Assonet, and Antonio Silva of Danvers, MA; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jose was predeceased by his siblings, Connie Silva, Rosalina Silva, and Eduardo da Silva.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, December 27th, at St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery, both in Fall River.
