Jose M. Soares, 75, of Westport, formerly of Fall River, husband of Natalia (Soares) Soares, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Porto Formoso, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Manuel Elias Soares and the late Maria de Rosario (Teixeira) Soares, he emigrated to Fall River in 1970 and resided in Westport for the past 35 years.

Employed as a laborer for many years with various firms in the local construction industry, he worked for the longest time with Britto Construction Co. of Bristol, and was a member of Local 375. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and soccer (rooting for his favorite team, Benfica), as well as volunteering for the yearly Holy Ghost celebration.

Besides his wife, of 50 years, he leaves: a son, Michael Soares (wife Teresa) of Westport; a daughter, Linda Soares of Westport; three grandchildren, Ashley Maria Soares, Tyler Michael Soares, and Mason Soares Sabino; and several nieces & nephews. He was also the brother of the late Domingos Soares.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 8th, in Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport, followed by his committal and entombment in the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
