Jose S. Raposo, 64, of Fall River, husband of Maria F. (Miranda) Raposo, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, June 8, 2019, after a lengthy illness. Born in Ajuda de Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel D. Raposo and the late Maria (Sousa) Raposo, he emigrated to Fall River in 1977. He worked at Lightolier for 27 years.

He enjoyed membership in the Our Lady of Light Club, and was an avid Benfica fan. Jose also loved making people laugh, reminiscing about, and sharing stories from, "back in the day." Mostly he cherished spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, of 42 years, he is survived by: a daughter, Denise R. Soares (husband Dennis) of Fall River; a son, Ricardo Raposo of Fall River; seven siblings, Alda Medeiros (husband Jose) of the Azores, Maria Silva (husband Americo) of Canada, and Nelia Aguiar (husband Jose), Leontina De Melo (husband Duarte), Eduardo S. Raposo (wife Manuela), Gilberto S. Raposo (wife Maria) & Jorge S. Raposo (wife Maria) all of Fall River; three grandchildren, Isabella Raposo, Liliana Soares, and Adrian Soares; and many nieces & nephews. He was also a brother of the late Manuel S. Raposo and Luis S. Raposo.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for the loving care and support they provided Jose.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 15th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
