Jose Torres
Sousa
d. May 2, 2021
Fall River
Jose Torres Sousa, 84, of Fall River and husband of the late Maria Jose (Teves) Sousa, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Ribeirinha, Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel Libano de Sousa and the late Irena de Jesus (Torres) de Sousa.
Jose was a hard-working family man who had a "green thumb" and could grow most anything. For many years, you could find his booth at the Kennedy Park Farmer's Market where he took pride in selling his potatoes and peppers. He also enjoyed listening to classical and band music, especially the St. Anne's Marching Band at local parish feasts.
He leaves: his loving children, Susana Lincoln of Clearwater, Florida, Ana Cook and her husband, Justin, of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, and Mario Sousa, of Swansea; his grandchildren, Grant Lincoln, Nicholas Lincoln, Maximus Lincoln, Connor Cook, Alexander Cook, Zachary Sousa, and Tiffany Sousa; two great-grandchildren, Holly Lincoln and Henry Lincoln; sisters, Irena Borges, Virginia Cavaco, and Bibiana Pascoal; brothers, Lionel Sousa and Joao Sousa; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by several siblings.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 8th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making a donation in Jose T. Sousa's memory to: Alzheimer's Association at this website ( https://act.alz.org/site/Donation ).
