Jose Travassos, 79, of Fall River, the husband of Virginia (Cabral) Travassos, passed away peacefully on Friday morning at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Travassos was born in St. Michael, Azores to the late Arthur and the late Idalina P. (Peixoto) Travassos. Jose is survived by his children, Jose M. Travassos,  Helen M. Benjamin and her husband Mario, Carlos Travassos, Maria E. Sousa, Sofia Soares, Gilbert Travassos, Silveiro Travassos and Grace Travassos all of Fall River.  He was the grandfather of Mason Sousa, Jason Faria, Jessica Travassos, Ashley Soares, Joshua Travassos, Nathan Soares, Amanda Travassos, Gracen Viveiros,  and Cole Sousa and the great grandfather of Serenity Travassos, Kyden Pacheco, Trinity Faria, Scarlett Ferreira,  Adriana Soares, Jaylee Faria, and Emma Sousa . Mr. Travassos also leaves his twelve siblings Normanda Oliveira, Natalia Rodrigues, Esaura Macedo, Claudio Travassos, Gil Travassos, Gilda Pacheco, Silverio Travassos,Alberto Travassos, and Octavio Travassos. He leaves many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Emanuel Travassos, the late Grace Travassos, and the late Gil Travassos. Mr. Travassos was the brother of the late Arthur Travassos. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, February 13th, in Santo Christo Church followed by his committal at Notre Cemetery.
