Joseph Barboza, 89, of Fall River, husband of the late Beatrice (Cordeiro) Barboza, died Sunday 12/5/10 at Jordan Hospital, Plymouth. Born in Fall River son of the late John & Mary (Cabral) Barboza, he was a union carpenter, Local 1305, for many years, retiring in 1984. An army veteran of World War II, he earned a Silver Star for heroic achievement in action, and was a member and past president of the Rudolph Souza Post VFW. A member of the Herald News Bowling League, he also enjoyed golfing and was an associate member of Hidden Hollow Country Club, Rehoboth. An active parishioner of the former Our Lady of Health Church, he served in its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He leaves: 4 sons, Paul, Joseph, Kevin & Barry Barboza; 2 daughters, Carol Mularz & Sharon Tomlinson; 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Manuel, John, Antone & Agnes Barboza, Mary Isabella Cabral and Amelia Reis. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, December 10, in Espirito Santo Church followed by a committal service with military honors at St. Patrick Cemetery.
