Joseph L. Pereira “Big Joe”, 66, of Fall River, husband of Flor (Ortiz) Pereira of 40 years, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family. Born in Fajã de Cima, São Miguel, Azores, Joseph was a son of the late Armando S. Pereira and the late Maria Odete (Rebelo) Pereira.

Joseph was a graduate of Diman Regional Vocational High School as a mechanic. He worked many jobs: correctional officer at Walpole Cedar Junction, bartender at Don Carlos Club, KDC driver, school bus monitor for the Swansea school district, adult daycare driver, and a security guard at Salve Regina University.

While he was a hard worker, he also enjoyed his free time. He loved fishing, bird watching, loved his sports, especially Sporting and the Boston Red Sox. Joseph was also an active member in the Knights of Columbus, MSGR Prevost Council #12380, Bishop Stang Assembly #392, the Don Carlos Club, Liberal Club and the Moose Lodge #914.

Most notably, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Steven K. Pereira Sr. (wife Stefanie Pereira) of Westminster, MA and Allison Pereira (fiancé, Tyler Stahl) of Fall River; grandchildren, Briannah Rollinson (husband Brandon) Chloey Pereira and Steven K. Pereira Jr.; great-grandchild, Athena Rollinson; his brother Carlos A. Pereira; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Calling Hours to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

His Funeral will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 9:00 am from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered in St. Bernard’s Church at 10:00 am. Committal Service and interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
