Joseph A. DeMello, 53, of Tiverton, died unexpectedly on Saturday in Florida. Beloved husband of Gina (Lucciola) DeMello. Born in St. Michael, Azores, son of Maria (Nascimento Teixeira) DeMelo of the Azores and the late Jose C. DeMelo. After attending Durfee, he served in the US Army and then attended Boston University. Joe loved the beach and was a lifeguard for many years at Horseneck. He enjoyed golf and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He owned and operated DeMello's Auto Sales, JAD Construction and the DeMello Investment Group, and was a member of the Sons of Italy. Besides his wife of 22 years and his loving mother, he will also be missed by his survivors: precious daughter, Erica M. DeMello; aunt, Liné Teixeira; nephew, Dylan Almeida; father & mother-in-law, Gaetano & Anna Lucciola; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Sandy Almeida and Randy Lucciola; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also brother-in-law of the late Rocco Lucciola. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church. He was laid to rest at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
